What a rainy and overall ‘blah’ morning, don’t you think? Well, nothing a nice hearty bowl of pumpkin-steel cut oats and pumpkin spice coffee can’t fix!
This weekend, I am hosting a small (or 20-25 attendee) get together in honor of my love’s birthday. I’ve been planning this for a while, but now that the time is coming up I’ve fallen victim to a bit of panic. Do I have enough food? Drinks? Don’t even mention decor, because I have not thought about it. All I know is there will be good food, great people and cheap wine. What more do you need? :)
Birthday Brunch Buffet Menu:
Cheese Plate (3-5 cheeses) with Crackers and Fig Jam
Mescelun Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette
3 Types of Quiche
Baked Ham with Apple-Onion Compote
Green Beans and Shallots sauteed in White Wine
(Should I add another side? A pasta dish or something??)
Yogurt Parfait Bar
Assorted soft drinks
Wine & beer
Perhaps some Bloody Mary action? :)
Yellow Cupcakes with Cherry Filling and Chocolate Butter cream (obviously)
Ice Cream Sundae Bar (aren’t these so fun?!)
Coffee & Tea
Now before you go thinking, “Okay, Ms. Ambitious, let’s see you pull that off”, let me explain my cook-buy method. I most certainly will not be cooking everything. You can’t possibly do that and still enjoy yourself. So, I purposely pick things that can be half homemade and half store bought (Please do not think to yourself ‘oh, just like Sandra Lee’. Sorry Sandy, not a fan.)
I don’t typically use this approach, but since we’re weighing in at around 25 people, I need to get my game face on.
Store bought items:
“Yogurt Bar” items
“Ice Cream Bar” items
If you have any suggestions, please post them in the comments!
Have a great day everyone! I have some serious work to do! xO
