What started out as a fun conversation with friends over a couple of glasses of wine turned into a fun challenge! Isn’t that where the best ideas develop?
Working as a caterer or at-home chef has always been something I thought would be great fun. While I don’t think being a full time chef would suit my fancy, cooking for small (perhaps one day, large?) groups of people has always been something that makes me incredibly happy. I love the feeling I get when I see people enjoying the food I make.
When my friends, Maren and Lance, agreed to let me ‘cater’ their awesomely hip daughter’s 12th birthday party, I was absolutely thrilled! We chatted about her preferences of food, sweets, and colors, and I think that we’ve come up with something casual yet fabulous!
La Fiesta de Pippa
(Non-alcoholic) Strawberry Daiquiris
Homemade Guacamole & Blue Corn Chips <– the BEST guacamole!
Taco Bar (Flour tortillas and hard shells, ground turkey, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, hot sauce)
Sugar Cookie Star Cupcakes (Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting tinted the birthday girl’s favorite color topped with mini sugar cookies).
Q: What is your favorite birthday party memory from your youth? Food, friends, gifts, or otherwise.
