Yesterday I embraced my newly unemployed self and hopped the discount bus to the one and only New York City. I boarded the bus, settled into my window seat and perused blogs on the somewhat turbulent journey into town. An hour off schedule we arrived.ah, New York, how I’ve missed you!
I felt like such a city girl as I hurried down 7th avenue in search of 15th street where I was to meet my wonderfully lovely college friend. I spotted her crossing the street with that wonderful glow that I remember so well and we continued on our way chatting about everything and anything that came to mind.
Our first stop was the famous Chelsea Market where I fell in love more and more as we wandered through each shop or eatery. We stopped at Friedman’s Lunch and enjoyed glasses of local chardonnay with my brown rice, veggie and grilled chicken bowl and her veggie burger.
After a drool worthy guide through the rest of the shoppes we returned into the big city as I savored each sight, smell, and experience. Every site was better than the next…we stumbled upon the Union Square Farmer’s market that is said to be there each and every day…?! Get out there, Philly! We need something like this pronto. Through Gramercy Park and the area around where I devoured a house roasted coffee complete with local milk from a glass container behind the counter.
The short but very sweet day ended with a long chat as we soaked up all that is Bryant Park- a place of so many memories when we used to make day trips in high school.
I’m trying to take on this renewed passion for spontaneity…for fun! And for now, it’s working!
