despite what you might think, being home all day and all, the weekends are dramatically more special due to the fact that my favorite people are free from the confinement of their respective workplace and we’re able to join in the company of one another.
the weekend started, though, with an at-home date night of sort. Friday’s are typically ‘our night’ and i make every effort to ensure that is so! given the relative coolness of the evening I cranked up the Bebel Gilberto station, opened a bottle of cheap red and got to work on my cooking adventures. Tossing a few sides together such as roasted yellow beets and leftover salad, I added to the mix some great baguette and of course the shining star a grass-fed filet from my favorite butcher. Into the oven went my first attempt at clafoutis…a French dessert traditionally made with cherries but I followed a recipe for a plum version and it was absolutely divine.
The remainder was a sort of whirlwind of endless walks, movies, and later than normal breakfasts. In other words, a perfect time.
Oh and we mustn’t forget a meeting of the minds resulting in something known as Sandwich of the Week! This week’s indulgence is the Roasted Turkey BLT
An Ezekiel roll piled high with
-roasted turkey (thick sliced, mind you)
-center cut bacon
-red leaf lettuce
enjoy the day, friends.
