As we walked down the street yesterday, following a lunch out, I thought about and said how lately I’ve been thinking about how important it is (to me, to us) to find joy in small things or create those opportunities for yourself. This doesn’t take away from my passion for big trips half way around the world and dreams to do so at every opportunity, but it also means that I’m trying not to make that the primary focal point of happiness.
There are so many little things, perhaps unnoticeable to other people that can make these weeks special and make life a little more full.
That brings me to number 1: Weeknight Entertaining.
For someone who likes to cook, weeknight entertaining is as easy as setting another place and making a bit more of the main dish. Best part- doesn’t have to be anything fancy!
I cooked up some roasted root vegetables, salmon, and a big ‘ol salad for our college friend who moved to the city a couple of months ago. While I finished up I set out some hummus, olives and wine and we had ourselves a little Wednesday celebration complete with the best chocolate chip cookies you’ve ever tasted. Oh and beautiful flowers from our guest didn’t hurt either.
