So sound-off: Do you love the Halloween festivities or are they just one more obligatory ‘holiday’ to grin and bear?
In my developing adult life (I still don’t consider myself and adult adult) I have sort of adopted a way of making events and holidays my own. For a while, I felt myself pulling in a direction of dreading holiday affairs…the stress of added ‘to-dos’ and impossible negotiations. So instead of fueling that negativity I committed to letting go a little (or a lot) and savoring the parts of each that I truly loved. Sure, stress still comes on in full force but my contribution to the joy of the event is personal and freeing.
I say, why not ‘say yes’ to that costume party despite the reminder that you haven’t dressed up in 5 years (I have a few good ones up my sleeve!).
Offer to make something barely Halloween appropriate because you love these bad-boys so much you just have to share.
Take advantage of opportunities that scare you (literally and figuratively)
Cozy up with a piping hot bowl of chili and watch your favorite Halloween movie just because.
Spoil yourself with homemade versions of your favorite trick-or-treat candies
Allow yourself the time to appreciate the beauty of the season-play in the leaves, dance in the streets and love as many minutes as you can.
