Last night, after months of talks of getting together with a dear friend (you all know the drill) we finally caught up at a small café in the neighborhood. We talked, reminisced and despite the hardships (that she’s maneuvering with such grace), we had a wonderful time. But the best part was a message she sent after we parted ways.
Lisa, today ended in a way to make me hope for a better tomorrow. I had not felt Christmas at all this year until you said good bye to me on the corner
My heart melted at this comment. A reminder to us all that a few words of encouragement and gratitude can go miles toward bringing joy to others. This year gratitude-for moments like this and the people in our lives-is at the forefront of my mind.
The Christmas festivities are rushing towards us and I’m happy. Presents are thoughtfully bought or made, wrapped and placed between our little tree and I haven’t gotten caught up in the hustle and have allowed myself to savor the moments. This weekend we’ll spend the days leading up to the big event in the country with my mom and growing family. There is a feast in the works and I’m so thrilled that everyone will be together this holiday.
