A week of celebrations! Monday was L’s mother’s birthday… wishing her a very happy birthday from afar just won’t cut it so a couple of weeks back we set out to plan a simple birthday dinner for this weekend. Lamb is a favorite of all of us attending so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at the mighty roast that is lamb shoulder.
L and I headed to the butcher to get ideas. With leg of lamb in mind I walked in to find an empty tray behind the sign that read “leg of lamb”. “Try the shoulder”, the butcher suggested, “it’s a leaner cut with less bone.” Trusting him, I selected a middle-size roast and went on my way.
Let it be known, I’m not one who sticks to what I know when it comes to having guests. I take it as an opportunity to explore something new and share in an experience, even if it’s a flop.
