this weekend was one of the best, low key kind spent with family and the best of friends. saturday was spent with my nephew and SIL and boy, let me tell you he is just irresistible. As he gets older (1 month this Friday!) he’s more engaged and squirmy and just all around wonderful. babies are really something incredible, huh?
the next day a long overdue reunion with my wonderful friend who i met at my teaching job last year. as i said to her over coffee after our (scottish) oatmeal bar at home-with toppings of flax, brown sugar, walnuts, fruit, coconut maple syrup, and the like- we were each other’s family last year, through a really challenging time that no one on the outside could truly understand. The ability to fall right back into deep felt heart to heart conversations is so telling of a truly pure and great friendship…the ones that don’t come along all that often.
This week I count the days to our Colorado trip and it couldn’t come at a better time. I’m ready to breathe deeply and freely, spend quality time on my own and with my favorite guy, and toss in a little adventure, too. It’s all falling into place and I’m so appreciative of the easygoing nature of this vacation. As our B&B proprietor says, “Think Snow!”
