I’m really fortunate to have incredible, original people in my life…You know, the kind that through their actions and words just make you go “wow”.
Gill is one of those people and I’m so excited to wish her bon courage as she embarks on her incredible journey, moving to Europe, on this day. Our friendship started as a modern day pen pal relationship, stemming from our mutual love of Paris. Almost 3 years later and adventures in Canada and France, I’m so grateful for this beautiful friend of mine, who has influenced my life in so many ways, always for the better. I always say I’d love to turn our thousands of correspondences into a book. Who knows, maybe we will?
“Our drink” is kir a fabulously traditional French cocktail and so simple to prepare. I serve them at almost ever dinner party or casual gathering I have since I always have a bottle of white wine on hand and crème de cassis in the liquor cabinet.
Tip: Go easy on the cassis at first… you can always add more!
12 oz. chilled dry white wine
2 tbsp. crème de cassis
Take two wine glasses and add about 1 T cassis to each. Add chilled white wine. Taste, adding more cassis if necessary. Serve immediately. Cheers!
* To make a kir royale, simply top with sparkling wine instead of white wine.
Have a wonderful weekend! What are your plans? We’ll be trying out a new restaurant this evening and hopefully hunting for a new (to us) sofa in some of the cities antique shops.
