I had the weekend to myself most of the time and so I took my time in making it purposeful and enjoyable. I woke up bright and early each day to see L off and go about the business of my day.
Saturday started slowly with a latte at the corner café and a walk through the community garden I stumbled upon. I ended up at the Italian Market, which it seems I can never stay away from. I grabbed fresh anchovies, mixed olives and house made ricotta figuring I’d use it all for something special later in the weekend. Inspired a bit by the garden, I grabbed four Ranunculus plants to spruce up our precious patio space. After fighting with the ivy roots to dig appropriately deep holes for my new plants they were secure and beautiful and I couldn’t help but feel really satisfied with how simple I really am. The day ended with some homemade pasta courtesy of a beautiful new (to me) cookbook I grabbed from the local library,Lidia’s Family Table . Oh it turned out so well, I can’t wait to share it!
Sunday we had breakfast and gathered our things to head to the farmer’s market. I had a friend visiting for lunch and L had never been. We strolled through the stalls grabbing the seasons freshest ingredients as well as local grass-fed beef and eggs from a new favorite vendor. I returned home to toss together an easy but beautiful lunch for my friend and I to enjoy on the patio while chatting the afternoon away.
